Himedia M6 with Chinese IPTV / M6MKV problem
« on: June 01, 2017, 02:04:06 PM »
We just got the latest answer from Himedia that they would temporarily release a new apk for online channels.

They are still working on fixing the MKTV. Hopefully it can be retrieved back soon.

As of May 24, 2016, Q5 Pro/H8 Lite/H8 Plus haven't been released by Himedia yet.

Himedia just released new Himedia Q10 Next Generation Q10 Pro. There are limited qty. for supply now. The supply will be enough after middle May, 2016.

This one will use the newest Hisilicon SoC which will offer the same goodies as the previous version (after all, it got an "A" from our very own @hdmkv user here) - but will also promise some new features :
- H.265/HEVC 10 bit
- HDMI 2.0 (so 4k@60fps)
- Dolby Vision VS10 & HDR/WCG support

The Kodi logo on the specs sheet is very promising.

FAQ / What is your warranty service?
« on: February 26, 2016, 03:56:58 PM »
Please note: offers free warranty service for authorized resellers only. All customers who bought from overseas or direct importers have to contact their vendors directly. The warranty service doesn't extend the original warranty period. Please email us: to verify if your product is from our authorized resellers.

All our Himedia products come with 1-year limited warranty:
1. 1-Year warranty is for main unit (Himedia TV box) only. All the accessories including cables, power adapters and remote come with only 90-days warranty. Please contact us if you want to purchase extra accessories or to replace one which is out of warranty. Himedia Remote: $15/each, Power adapter: $8/each. Those accessories are only available to customers who bought from our authorized resellers. Original purchasing proof is required.

2. This warranty will void if the factory-supplied serial number or "warranty void" sticker on the product has been removed or altered. This Warranty does not cover cosmetic damage or physical damage due to acts of God, accident, misuse, abuse, negligence or modification of any part of the product. This warranty does not cover damage due to improper operation or maintenance, connection to improper equipment, or attempted repair by anyone other than This warranty does not cover products sold AS IS or WITH FAULTS. Products sold with special short warranty period note will be covered according to the statement.

3. This warranty covers the hardware issue only, such as not powered on, no system audio/video out-put, defective I/O Port. This warranty doesn't cover the malfunctioned/freezing/crashed android system caused by third-party software. Most of this system crashing can be fixed by firmware refreshing. Please try to refresh the firmware before sending back. Minimum $5.00 service charge will apply for RMA (return merchandise authorization) which can be fixed by firmware refreshing/upgrading.

Here is the instruction for how to refresh/upgrade firmware:

Please understand: in order to maintain the competitive market retail price for our end users, our margin on the dealer's price is extremely low which is not enough to cover the cost on direct end-user warranty. We encourage the customers to contact their vendors directly for warranty service. Some vendors offer 3-months basic warranty and charge the extended warranty. Please make your own decision for the extended warranty purchase.

If your products are still within 1-Year from the date of purchase but out of vendor's warranty
We still offer warranty service for the products. But we will charge returning shipping cost in this case. Please check with us for more details while you request RMA.

Please request RMA number before sending back any merchandise to us. RMA number must be printed on shipping label. The returned package without valid RMA number may be rejected. Himedia News and Annoucements / Himedia just released H8 1.0.9 firmware!
« on: January 12, 2016, 01:27:59 PM »
Please download the new firmware from

Himedia Q10 Next Gen ("Next Generation" - could be a working title) will be using the same alluminum casing as the previous Hisilicon-based Mini PC from Himedia, which has a LED display and "smart touch" keys on the front and an internal SATA HDD bay.
Using the "smart touch" area you can operate the Mini PC without a remote, as it contains all basic keys like arrows, return, OK, menu.

Himedia Q10 Next Gen's connectivity is excellent: HDMI 2.0, Gigabit Ethernet, USB 3.0 (host and slave), SATA (internal), composite/optical/coaxial.

Himedia Q10 Next Gen full specs

CPU: quad-core Cortex A53 (64-bit)
GPU: quad-core(?) ARM Mali-T720
LAN: Gigabit
Wi-fi: 802.11N
USB: 1 x USB 3.0 host, 1 x USB 3.0 slave, 2 X USB 2.0
Audio/Video: HDMI 2.0, Composite, Stereo (L/R), Optical and Coaxial outputs
OS: Android 5.1
So while the CPU is similar to the one used by the Amlogic S905 or Rockchip RK3368 SoC's, the connectivity options offered by HiSilicon Hi3798C V200 SoC are much better, and the Mali-T720 is like a breath of fresh air after so many Mini PC's using Mali 450.

With the HiVXE 2.0 Video decoding engine, an 1080P UI, 4K at 60 fps, H.265/HEVC 10 bit, BDMV and BD-ISO support (including 3D) and the partnership with Dolby Laboratories for the integration of the Dolby Vision VS10 (with Higher Dynamic Range (HDR) and Wider Color Gamut (WCG), Himedia Q10 NG is clearly aimed at movie fans and could potentially become the best Mini PC in 2016 for this particular niche (as Q5 quad was in 2014/2015).

I noticed that the device has the Kodi logo on the specs sheet for the device - being able to make use of the excellent HD audio support (7.1 passthrough, Dolby Atmos, DTS-HD, True HD) from Kodi would make the Himedia's Hi3798C V200 device even more attractive.

Himedia Q10 NG (Next Generation) will be available after the Chinese New Year (so in late February) for a currently undisclosed price.

Specs sheet reveal that there could be a "Pro" version in the future with 16Gb eMMC and 802.11 AC Wifi - or maybe these will be used for the new Himedia Q5 "Next Generation".

AirPlay Steaming allows you to wirelessly steam media content from your iPhone,iPad or iPod touch IOS devices to your HDTV.Show off your photos, videos, and more on your HDTV.
AirPlay Mirroring lets you show exactly what's on your iPhone,iPad or iPod touch to everyone in the room. What you see is what your show.

There is a third party's apps called Happycast which can make airplay work on all himedia devices. Happycast is not from Himedia, so Himedia is not responsible for any tech support on this apps.

Please download the happycast from

1. Connect the Himedia Android TV Box and your IOS devices to same WIFI network.

2. On your iOS device, swipe up from the bottom of your screen to open Control Centre.
3.Tap AirPlay.
4.When you choose an AirPlay device, audio or video from your iOS device will play on your TV that's connected to the Himedia box. If you turn on Mirroring, you'll see your entire iOS screen on the TV that's connected to the Himedia Box. Your TV will use the orientation and aspect ratio of your device. If you want the image from your device to fill your TV screen, you might need to to adjust your TV's aspect ratio or zoom settings.
5.On your iOS device, swipe up from the bottom of your screen to open Control Centre. Tap AirPlay. Tap your IOS device at the top of the AirPlay list. Name may be different from "TV Box" show on the demo figure.
6. Youtube app may not be working for happycast, please use internet browser's youtube website.
